Project Vocabulary (v0.1)
Project Vocabulary (v0.1)
Living document for Organizational Systems Intelligence (OSI) and Professional Identity Architecture (PIA).
Purpose
This glossary preserves the evolving language, concepts, heuristics, and culture of the OSI project. It is intended to grow alongside the research.
Historical and Emergent Concepts
These entries preserve how project concepts were understood during development. They are not authoritative definitions. For current formal meaning, use Canonical Terminology.
Organizational Systems Intelligence (OSI)
Framework for observing, understanding, and improving the health of human cooperative systems.
Status: Established
Professional Identity Architecture (PIA)
Structured participant interview and narrative framework that supplies ethically collected observational data to OSI.
Status: Established
Capability Capital
The usable capability contained within people and relationships. Capability is influenced by trust, motivation, and organizational environment—not merely credentials.
Status: Working
State Transition
A change in organizational condition over time. OSI focuses on state transitions rather than static snapshots.
Status: Established
Narrative Neutrality
Separate evidence from interpretation. Describe before explaining.
Status: Established
Evidence → Observation → Interpretation
Core analytical workflow.
Evidence → raw facts
Observation → what is directly supported
Interpretation → proposed explanation
Confidence should accompany interpretation.
Status: Established
Logic Chain
The complete, inspectable chain connecting evidence to recommendations through explicit analytical transformations.
Logic Chains preserve Epistemic Integrity by ensuring that conclusions remain explainable, reproducible, confidence-preserving, uncertainty-preserving, and traceable to originating evidence.
A complete Logic Chain may connect:
Evidence → Observation → Interpretation → Inference → Conclusion → Recommendation
Shorthand:
Follow the Logic Chain.
Status: Working
Experiential Plurality
People can participate in the same organizational system while experiencing, interpreting, and responding to it in materially different ways.
PIA supports clearer individual self-understanding. OSI studies the relationships, conditions, and state transitions of the larger people-system without reducing organizational health to isolated individual traits.
Status: Working
Engineering Vocabulary
Get the Git
Definition
Restore the development environment before attempting to solve development problems.
Origin
Created after validating the end-to-end GitHub workflow.
Principle
Healthy systems make problem solving easier.
Draft → Review → Commit
Preferred documentation workflow.
Session Startup Checklist
- Git status
- Validate repository connection
- Confirm synchronization
- Begin work
Cultural Vocabulary
Bubble Popper
A person who perceives observable behavior together with the structures, mechanisms, constraints, incentives, relationships, and state transitions that generate it.
The bubble popper sees the bubbles, the container, the bubble wand, and the wand’s shape and colors as parts of one coherent system.
Donkeyface
The temporary cognitive state experienced while crossing from conceptual understanding into implementation architecture. It often feels like a loss of competence, but usually indicates that several new abstractions are being integrated at once.
Practical meaning: Pause, translate the layers in both directions, and continue. Donkeyface frequently precedes a meaningful increase in competence.
High-Energy but Non-Authoritative Subsystem
Informal project vocabulary. A human or machine component capable of increasing throughput, ideation, or apparent clarity without thereby gaining authority to validate, promote, or govern claims. First observed in the caffeinated human subsystem.
Purple Squirrel
Highly cross-functional individual whose value exceeds conventional job categories.
Build Things, Build People
A reminder that lasting systems are created by developing both infrastructure and people.
Two Spocks Up 🖖🖖
Informal quality rating indicating a solution is logically sound and operationally elegant.
Don’t Build the Death Star
OSI should function as a diagnostic that helps organizations heal rather than a mechanism for surveillance or control.
Jack–Daniel Principle
Inspired by Stargate SG-1.
Jack Mode
Act decisively when evidence is sufficient and delay increases risk.
Daniel Mode
Pause, investigate, and understand when uncertainty remains high.
OSI seeks wisdom in knowing when to transition between these modes.
Common shorthand:
- “RUN, Jack!”
- “Stop, Daniel.”
History
2026-07
- Capability Capital distinguished from Human Capital.
- State Transitions recognized as the primary analytical primitive.
- Narrative Neutrality formalized.
- Experiential Plurality recognized as a bridge between PIA and OSI.
- Publication standards established.
- GitHub development workflow validated.
- “Get the Git” added as project doctrine.
- Bubble Popper definition expanded to preserve simultaneous causal-layer perception.
- Donkeyface added as project learning vocabulary.
- Jack–Daniel Principle documented.
- Logic Chain added as the operational mechanism of Epistemic Integrity.
Document Status: Living Draft v0.1
Future additions should preserve origin, meaning, and status for every new entry.
